In keeping with the Zimbabwe Farmers’ Union (ZFU) Constitution, the ZFU National Council met on the 18th of December 2019 and held elections for the Union’s Presidium.
Mr Abdul Credit Nyathi was overwhelmingly re-elected President for his second and final term. Mr Nyathi is a large-scale farmer based in West Nicleson, Gwanda. He produces beef cattle, grains and horticulture, under irrigation.
Mr Nyathi served as 1st Vice President of ZFU from 2004 till 2014. He took over the reigns of the organization from the late Dr Silas Dunira Hungwe (at the expiry of his term).
At the just ended elections, Mr Philip Mauta was elected 1st Vice President and the 2nd Vice President position was reserved for a female leader in line with the requirements of the ZFU’s Gender Policy. Nominations to fill the vacant 2nd Vice President positions will soon be invited from suitably qualifying candidates.
