Primary and Secondary Education minister Lazarus Dokora has announced the introduction of a trial agricultural examination for Grade Seven pupils beginning this year.

Chemhondoro primary school landed the Silas Hungwe Food Security floating trophy for the second time in the Farmer-led up-scaling of conservation agriculture project competition.

The Competition started in 2013 and in 2014 Chemhondoro Primary school were the national winners.

At a well organised colourful event, the school proved that they deserved every bit of attention, praise and award they were getting that day.

President Mugabe yesterday mourned former Zimbabwe Farmers’ Union president, Mr Silas Hungwe, commending him for his immense contribution in imparting knowledge and skills to indigenous farmers.Mr Hungwe, brother to Minister of State for Liaising on Psychomotor Activities in Education Cde Josiah Hungwe, died on Monday morning after a long illness.He was 91.

In a bid to improve the country’s agriculture sector, the Zimbabwe Farmers’ Union and the European Union have launched a program that engages farmers and stakeholders in dialogue platforms to discuss issues that affect the industry.

The Inclusive Policy Dialogue for Social Development (IPDSD) is aimed at enhancing the participation of 20,000 farmers in policy and social development dialogue for food security and nutrition security.


The 2016 Tobacco Marketing Season commenced on 30 March for auction sales and 31st of March for the contract sales.

Licenced are three auction floors; Boka Tobacco Sales Floor, Tobacco Sales Floor and Premier Tobacco Floors; 18 Class A Buyers and 16 Contractors.

The Zimbabwe Farmers Union (ZFU) has welcomed moves by the government to compensate evicted white commercial farmers.


The Zimbabwe Farmers’ Union’s Youth Development Program (YDP) on March 16 hosted a stakeholder meeting at Crown Plaza Hotel in Harare.

The meeting was meant to shed more light on the vision ZFU has for the young people especially farmers in Zimbabwe and the steps the union has taken to accomplish its dream and also find areas of cooperation with the different stakeholders.


Many farmers around the country had a bitter disappointment this farming season because of the unstable rainfall pattern, but it is a different story for some Fit For Life graduates.

The Managing Director Barclays Bank Zimbabwe George Guvamatanga during his Executive visit last year donated 100 bags of pfumvudza packs to one hundred fit for life students from Shamva.
