Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Butternuts, Maize, and Pearl Millet
My name is Senamiso Letty Ndlovu. I hold a BSc in agribusiness and a Masters in Agribusiness. I am a full-time farmer in Nyamandlovu. I grow tomatoes, cucumbers, butternuts, maize, and pearl millet on an irrigated two hectare piece of land. Farming is both a way of life and a business for me. I also do research on the best technology and methods to do Agribusiness. The maize, pearl millet, and sunflowers that I grow, I feed them to the goats and roadrunners that I rear at the farm.
I was inspired by the desire to see a complete transition of our agrarian type of farming to the adoption of Agribusiness farming where we will do it as a business to better our communities.
Through farming, I upgraded my educational qualifications. The entire solar powered irrigation system and borehole, was funded by farming proceeds. I started with just batch of 25 broilers in 2014, and I have grown to irrigate the whole land using an environmetally friendly solar powered drip system.
Taking one day at a time is the key. Farming is a process, so give it time; it will eventually pay off.
There is no higher path than humility, no matter how high one climbs. Be humble.
